Just thought I'd chip in, someone around here has tried st185 calipers, so I imagine ST184s wouldn't be far off, and being newer, probably more efficient.
Also, remember the ST162 weighs about 1150kgs (dry) so it doesn't need huge brakes. If you go to enough importers someone will have the ST165 twin-pot (or maybe elusive four-pot) calipers lying around the place. Grab yourself some slotted rotors and you should have enough braking for even a pretty hot ST162.
I hear the Camry calipers are a pretty close match too but you should go to a wreckers and compare.

ok i have put in the ST165 calipers(they are the same as the ST185 calipers). I use bendix metal kings pads with standard rotors(for now that is).
I have only once had a problem that required more braking, but that was coming down from about 160 on a long drive so the brakes were very hot. This will be over come once i put my mags back on that will allow better air flow and get some cross drilled and slotted rotors, and if i want to go all out get some silicon based brake fluid(has a higher boiling point).
About all that i can do to upgrade the braking once i put in some new rotors would be larger brakes, but i find that for normal conditions the ST165 calipers with a good set of pads will be more than enuff. Give SSS a call, thats where i got my calipers.
