MA70 Supra LSD into MX83

...Was offered one of these today and am wondering if it will bolt into an MX83 Cressida. Does anyone know? If so, I'll probably purchase it and attempt to put it in myself.

Err...Buggered if I know!
(That's my response to the question, not the diff code! )
Seriously though, I forgot to ask...

BTW, Just had a call from the bloke who has the diff... He has lined it up against an MX83 unit (non-LSD) and, although he reckons they are virtually identical, they are just different enough so that the Supra item won't bolt straight in. My question, then, is this: Can I get the Supra LSD, and an MX83 non-LSD housing, and bolt the LSD internals into the MX83 diff housing? LSD under consideration is from an MA70 Supra.
I need some sort of definitive answer on this pretty soon, as I need to make a decision on whether or not to go ahead with the purchase or to wait (probably forever ) until an MX83 LSD becomes available...
Thanks in advance...

You can definitely get the MA70 LSD centre and put it in the MX83 carrier. Both should be 8" (G series) diffs. Any reputable diff place can do this for $50-80. I am very suprised they are different - I compared a GZ20 LSD to a Cressida MX83 diff and concluded it was the same....maybe I didn't pay enough attention.

They are, indeed, very similar. They are only slightly different in the mounting points on the carrier. Just different enough, however, to make a straight bolt-in a "non-goer".
Glad that the "guts" of the two diffs wil swap...that will be my play then.

I thought the GZ20 would have a F-series diff not a G-series of the MX83/MA70

This one is a GZ20 which had a 1GGTE in it. I bought it believing the same thing (that it would carry an F series diff) but it turned out to be a G series when I opened it. I have since confirmed this to be so on a number of Jap soarer websites. Whilst I was disappointed at the time, I am now delighted as I have an LSD to go into my Hilux diff.
Use babelfish on this website and you'll see that the GZ20's came out with both F and G series diffs. The lesser models had F's and the higher models had G's. LSD's were an option.
http://homepage1.nifty.com/rr-mz21/assyE.htm I have also confirmed it on the TRD website.
