I have the same trouble with my ae86, your digi dash wont read the signal from your current fuel sendor, get an auto electrician to sort it out for you, or see if you can get the fuel sendor from the donor car?

Work out how much range you get from a tank of fuel then use the odo to work out how much fuel you should have left?

typical problem with the later digital dash units (ie ae90+ corola) etc was the sender is very different to the normal one - not sure why/what is different - you may have to source the correct sender to suit the dash

I thought there might be some sort of signal converter but it seems apparent that the original sender is a much easier/cheaper option.

i pulled it apart today looking if anything was dissconnected but could see anything, it looks mad with the cover is off and you can see all the circuits i might keep it like that
also sometimes when i fiddle with it when i connect it all the way in it clicks then when i put my headtights on the whole dash turns off but that doesn't matter cause i only put it half way in and it works fine.
how much you looking at for the fuel sender cause i would need it but i don't wanna pay alot for it since i got the dash for $60

To get an "accurate" temp reading, you will need the temp sender unit from the donor cars engine.
Toyota have always played with these little jiggers. The First Camry's exported to UAE in the desert, had the same sender as the Aussie Camry's. The Locals over there were concerned that the guage wasn't reading high enough for the warmer climate! Toyota's fix --- change the sender unit, so that the needle sat higher!
regards Chuck.
