I just put on new adjustable Koni's onto my JZA-70 (same shocks as MA-70 Supra) and the instructions say to put the original rubber shock absorber boots/dust covers onto the new shocks. Problem is on the rear, they have disintegrated. On the front they look intact, but don't look like they will cover the top of the shock.
I tried to get replacements, but the guy who I bought them from rang the Koni dealer in Melbourne who "assured" me that they aren't needed. He said the Koni seals keep the dirt out fine
Is he fobbing me off? Should I try to get some replacements? I saw a guy on the internet cut off some hose covering dirt bike forks and cable tie it on. Anyone with experience (i.e. rally/dirt driving, or anyone who wants to put their two bits in) on this would be appreciated.
i have been runing gabrels for 5 years or so without these covers front and rear and they are just dying know so i dont think i would worry to much unless your covering the shock in mud everday it shouldnt matter just hose them off when they do get muddy its your joice
