That clutch is 8.5". Unfortunately my flywheel was not built up after the ring gear so I could have put a bigger clutch in. I dont want to have to get another flywheel made but i may have to i suppose

Yep it's shagged. Get yourself a heavy-duty pressure plate and a 5-puck ceramic clutch plate with sprung centre - guaranteed no more slipping!

Norbie: What is you definition of heavy duty? With that setup I had 2600lb clamping force. What is the take up like with a 5 puck ceramic sprung centre, cause it is a 4WD and is used for 4WDing I need slippage or climbing over rocks will be very nasty.
Can anyone point me to a good brand 21 spline 29mm 8.5" 5 puck ceramic sprung centre clutch plate?
Good to see I ran a 14.2 with that clutch aswell, should go a bit quicker with it actually grabbing properly

those little cracks in the pressure plate are heat cracks
id get a rpm heavy duty clutch kit there only about $250-300 and there excellent and have a great bite
id also get the flywheel machined...

Pucker's are on or off items no good for 4wd use, try a small block ford v8 heavy duty twinplate perhaps?

yeah the toploader clutch, they are a bastard hard clutch, but i dont think you will burn one out too quickly. my mate has an xd with 351 clevo 600hp, and runs that clutch,
my xy ute with clevo uses it, unbreakable, but might be a bit of a bastard for 4x4ing. (too heavy , as in clutch pushing)
and @ $600 per clutch kit, damn. but you get that.

Id say it wont be too heavy, hydraulic assistance is pretty good. So top loaders have a 21 spline, 29mm input shaft? What diameter are they cause I cant go any larger than 8.5" with my flywheel, which is in perfect nick, wont even need machining.

A 5-puck sprung centre ceramic clutch is not "on-off" at all, in fact it's hardly any different to the full-face organic clutch I used to have. A 3-puck solid centre ceramic clutch is very harsh and you can't slip it at all, but that's a very different kettle of fish.

Norbie, what brand is your clutch plate, or is it a custom job?

Yeah it's a custom job, I got the boys at Direct Clutch to build it for me.
From memory the complete setup was $390 with the organic centre, and I bought the ceramic centre later for $200.
