i couldnt tolerate windows open over 180

160 was doable with drivers window right down (cruised the best part of the way @ 160)... but fuel eco sucked the big one

	sure
i gaurantee all you'll hear is wind and tyre noise tho

you can hear the engine 'go' when you punch it at 160 odd, but its gets drowned out really quickly.

i should also mention i blew a tyre some time after this... taking it off on the side of the road, youve no idea how frickin hot the damn tyres got - i was amazed.

it blew 'slowly' if thats possible

went down over about 15-20secs at about 140. made a horrible noise, i thought id suddenly cooked my diff or something it was that bad. i found a defect in the sidewall that i think just went 'off' with the heat, and failed ...

but yes, rather lucky. the unlucky part was trying to buy a new tyre in bourke for a 'reasonable price'

Check the speed rating on your tires Ed ill bet there not Z!

I also suggest you goto a large transport depot and get your tires filled with nitrogen, All the large trucking companys run this as it helps keep a stable pressuire when heated and so forth

Nice work Ed, its a nice feeling knowing the top of the car.

Was that the limit aerodynamics wise? or rev wise?

Its just that my 6M topped out at 210kph as well, aerodynamics wise.

The question is tho, was the car stable enough at that speed to let go of the wheel?

	hrm
I was going 220 with some revs to spare
my rolling dia. was slightly larger due to huge tyres tho, and 1j revs a bit more.

yeah, there was revs to spare, but drag was killing me. it couldve gotten up around the 220's if i let it wind right up for ages, but i was happy enough doing 210, and simultaneously fumbling for the digi cam

the time it wouldve taken to get up to 220 would mean a LOT of time spent over 200kmh, which makes me feel a little edgy...

stability? yeah, quite good. the road had considerable bumps and unulations though, plus at 210, the steering is REALLY light

i think itll be a lot better with the 17's and new shocks tho

Your pulling approx 5800rpm, whats the redline for that sucker?

P.S 2J would still have another 1000rpm to play with and it wouldnt have reached peak power yet!

what pressure did you have your tyres?

if your going fast you should pump them right up, more pressure means less sidewall flex, and less heat generated by the constant flexing of the sidewall.... that could have been your problem with the bung tyre

when i go that fast i have the tyres up at about 38-40, when i went to the track they made us put them up to 42psi.

It's worth mentioning the speedo is pretty inaccurate at those speeds... have you calculated the actual speed based on rpm and tyre diameter etc? I got my MA61 up to 270 once but the speedo was way off...

	nice work ed

and... nice stirring cool1

You know those "speed cameras" they have just leaving Albury toward Melbourne where they tell you your speed (only up to like 117 or something now *sniff*)

I had my cruise on 110 and it said I was going like 106 or thereabouts. My rolling diameter almost identical to stock (15'z + profiles = 14'z + fatts) so if you had stock wheels on ed, your would have had maybe a 10-11 kph variation?? totally diffo car tho..

Speedos from the factory tend to be a little wound 2% or so I have decided

redline is 7000rpm.

engine didnt have much left in it though. like i said, it probably couldve crept up to around 220, but it wouldve taken a while. i just did a quick calc based on 110 @ 3000rpm and that gets me 212 @ 5800rpm. the gearbox is out a mkiv too, so the speedo drive gear is a little different to stock, but i dont think itll be that much out.

oh, and i totally forgot to mention, that wasnt done at wide open throttle... theres something kooky with the tuning where hitting WOT triggers a mixture and timing change that detonates the bugery out of the engine at high loads...

so, yeah...

perhaps it has more to do with doing it down a populated public road??

some people are simply blindly irresponsible (as i too have been on occasions)... has nothing to do with their vocabulary.

dam 210 is nice, its so close but so far... its a fair stretch for my lil stock 5m-e, it could only make it to the 205 mark and that was pushing it hard and taking its sweet time. but that has satisfied me for now
take it easy all

I'd go out on a limb here and guess that over half of this forum attends or races at illegal meets! The spot that i used to goto was highly organised and keept it as safe as possibly for a on street meet. Unoccupied industrial area's.

i'd say 3/4 of the people that have/do attend wont admit on a public forum for fear of flamage or cop/epa hassaling.

Why do ya reckon that? It's a lot easier to just go down to the local drag track and you can actually get a time too.

Im not sure, maybe people can't afford 50$ or what ever it is to attend their local track. Some people like the atmosphere better at street meets. Some go for the cars/people. I went to check out the cars/atmosphere, but unfortunetly didn't have a car worthy of running (the spot i went to was imports or hipo commos). The 15$ to watch at local offstreet meet was put into fuel (i had to come from outa town). So me and a few mates used to cruise down in a car. Check out the scenes around town, get food then head to local spot. Although i haven't been to street runs in over a year now.

Please god please...give it some real tuning! Your current engine would be awesome with real tuning! Excluding the munted oil ring of course, but still...

yes, a tunable ecu is included in the spec sheet

i doubt this build would function without one.
and whaddya mean 'would be an awesome engine'

Currently it has roughly the same top-end of a lowly 2JZGE...imagine what it could be!?

not everything is measured by WOT peak power

nah, i dont want to get into details here, but im sure youll find out whats in the build one way or another.

100hp/L is a bare minimum expectation...

and then there's more

Ok then, you have roughly the same top end power band of a lowly stock 2JZGE
