Hey All,
I just finished polishing my MA61 Rims ever since Good Friday and here are some pics They were in a terrible state when i got them but after paint stripper, tins of oven cleaner and a scour here it is...
Now I have to figure out how to fix the (deep) gutter rashs.
Cheers.

Looking good.
Im a big fan of painting the inner bits black behind the spokes and in the little divots that run around the shiny spokes........if that makes sense.

powder coat them, tape up the polished bits and take them down to a place that does powder coating should not be too painful for such a small area

Could you do me a biiiiiiig favour and weigh one of the rims on some scales so we know how much a stock rim actually weighs?

The rim weighs about 7.5kg
And I'll might do the black lines on the rim on the weekends after I polish the rims again

Scratch around the rim isn't bad to fix, though a gouge into the rim loosing around 1" - 3" of roundness... it's small problem
I'll take a photo tomorrow night after work showing the gouge and more photos...
I'll work on it on the weekend, anyway, these rims are spare set incase I damage the ones currently on the car.
Cheers.

Yep, they look like yours but in 14" and wider, though I want to keep the paint behind the spokes to the original (or close enough) colour.
Your lucky to have gutter bashed free rims, mine have heaps of alloy missing, does anyone know what should I do, or do I take it to a professional and get them to fix it?
Cheers.

205 to 265
265 is pushing it, but if you want it too look phat.
225 on the front and 245 on the rear would be my choice.

Realistically 205, I'd probably prefer this size.
You could always go drift-spec with 185/55s.

ZZT231, I can't load for pics for some reason so can't comment sorry. I restored mine by hand a long time ago, and they were in absolutely shithouse condition. Half the work was cleaning them, I'm not joking - as you can see from the pics:

"3 of these things are quite like the others, 3 of these things are kinda the same..."
Not something I look forward to doing again, it was a shitload of work. Cleaned, stripped the clearcoat, sanded back with various grades of wet&dry & wirewool then polished with wire wool (IIRC) then cloth. Sanding really can get a lot of ghutter rash out; the rest you have to live with. Of course, I never bothered to clearcoat them, so they've dulled. I've since painted the grooves black by hand. I should have painted the centres black - tried it on one, and decided masking them was too much work. Would have looked better though - cRUzida, you'rs look great!
