JZZ30 Soarer vs R31 Skyline vs Suzuki Across M/B

This happened on the way home from work last night. I was running late for a movie so didn't need much encouragement
Pull up to the Traffic Light GP, R31 GTS skyline in the right lane me in the middle and Mr Across in the left.
Across with a rolling start leaves first and pulls a length or so on the two cars. Skyline gives it a bit but then veers off to the right.
I see the bike wants to play so nail the gas pedal. Turbos spool up and I wind Mr Across in and wave good bye. Hit about 120 and realize that my license is soon to be the looser of this confrontation so back off.
Next lights and he wants to play again... This time he doesn't have a rolling start.
Off the line I pull away from him. BiG chirp from the rear as the auto box moves into second. This time theres no contest at all and he quickly becomes a speck in the rear view mirror.
Both times when I backed off he went absolutely screaming past me (Screaming as in loud not necessarily fast). He was giving it everything it was worth and I've ridden one of these before and didn't think they were that bad at the time (nothing next to my CBR though)
I'd understand that he may not have know what my car was the first time, but why do you try a second time when u r obviously are out of your league. Wouldn't mind knowing what was going through his head....

I agree.... I'll go almost anything, even though most of the time I know I'll lose. I do it for the fun, not (most of the time) to show up the other person. Though I do enjoy trashing excels

Thats true although when ur first car is a Mitsu Magna TM, u try to steer clear of excels because its pretty embarresing getting beaten by one.

that's one of my main reasons for getting a new car... if my car has even one more person than the excel in it, I lose the drag (of course, with 7.5" of rubber at all 4 corners, I always win the race)

But good ol turbo lag. Thought he had won it but once i hit boost i passed him. He was actually really nice gave the thumbs up and we parted ways.

Suzuki Accross = 250cc Postie bike with a clutch. Try racing a 250cc 2 stroke like an Aprillia or RGV250 and i'm sure the soarer would be playing catch-up.

I agree with you.... Across's are POS's.
but I expected more of it.
My CBR would nail the soarer off the line. It does 0-100km/h about 1.5 seconds faster than the car. Top speed it wouldn't have a chance and I think you would find that a two stroke 250 bike like the RS250 would be the same.
Was still funny seeing this guy keep comming for more though!

Or, you could try a real bike like a CBR1100XX, then it would be "Bike first, daylight second, third and....car last!

Funny you say that....about 20 mins ago I was downtown with my old lady and a green Soarer was driving along. I said to her "thats the car i'm getting" and she said "oh that looks nice dear" then he floored it and took off heaps fast and as it changed into 2nd a big squeel and kept on going. Then she goes "I hope your not going to drive it like that!!"
And draven.....I like your thinking......."I'll go almost anything, even though most of the time I know I'll lose."
We were down town one night in my mates Silvia and a VL turbo with a MONSTEr front mount and HEAPS done to it wanted a race....my mate was scared. I just wanted to see this VL in full flight...even if it was leaving us. Who cares???
