Options for my cressida. Tue, 20 April 2004 06:41 Go to next message
Hello,

i'm new to this forum, but no forums in general. Stumbled accross this site from a www.nissansilvia.com post. I must say, i love what some of you are doing to your soarers, cressida's, celicas and even rav4's Smile

I own a cressida, which i believe is an mx73. It's a 1984, inline 6 2.8l. I love the car and i believe it has true potential.

I was wondering what kind of options i had for engine conversions, body kits...and so on.

Will the engine's out of the old soarers fit into my beast, will a newish 2jz fit into my beast? I just need some ball park estimates as to what will fit under this hood.

Would also love to know where you guys get your body kits from for cressida's.

Thanks in advance guys,

Marshall

Not to be an arsehole, but with all the shit slinging thats been going on here latley i think the SEARCH function will help you out the most.

If its an MX73, a 1jz will fit and it will be bloody fast.
1350kg + 206kw = FUN. A few people on the forums have done this.

A 1uz (lexus/crown/soarer V8) will also fit, talk to peewee (i think) about that conversion. (there's quite a large thread on his conversion)

And also try http://www.toyotacressida.com and join the forums there.
Lots of mx73 info there. Smile

Oh, and may i be the first to say, welcome. Smile

1984, thought that would make it a late MX62? Check the firewall ID plate....

If it is a MX62 then a 1J/2J might be a bit hard (I believe that the steering box will foul on the turbos, tho I'm not sure, something to think about anyway Smile)

Cheers
Wilbo

Youroptions are any M series or JZ series (all straight 6s), & even a UZ (V8) if you wanted to be a bit different.
A 1j conversion can be had for around $5000, give or take, including 3" exhaust & big front mount intercooler, and will provide hours of endless fun...
