call and get some quotes guys
being under 25 doesnt help but you'll never know until you ask
most companies do insure them with conditions ie how modified it is and how much you tell them (your risk)
good luck guys as sometimes you've gotta do what it takes to get what you want

My st185 grpA costs me about $1800 comprehensive with just cars, however i will be switching to shannons who are going to charge $1680(ish) and allow me to pay by the month, and give me first option to buy the wreck (just cars was going to put up premium for this right)...
That is at market value of $19000

How did you get Shannons to insure you?
I've just started looking for insurance again, but they didn't want to know about it last cause it was too new.
1996 Grey import Caldina.
& just to annoy you young guys, I'm over 30 with a rating 1.

Exactly, you're 10 years closer to dying You living in Sydney and me living in Perth your insurance probably isn't that much cheaper than mine would be anyways

They weren't going insure mine when they thought it was a standard gt4, I just let them know that the grpA was a limited run of 150 and it counts as a rare performance car...
Who knows what they think they chop and change all over, however i have a written quote and I intend on accepting it!!

I am 22 and use Just Car for comprehensive valued at $17k agreed value and it costs $1400ish...
It took me ages to get to 17k with Just Car and Shannons said they would only insure the car as a weekender with something tiny like 5000km max yearly travel.
I have to call Just Car pretty soon to get some mods covered so I'll see if they'll take the "rare performance car" line.

im with shannons -
Payed 1500 for my first year ( i was 24 ) - on standard comprehensicve with shannons for my 1990 st185. had no probblems insuring it whatsoever .. ( this with limited mods too )
Recently had this upgraded to shannons " modified comprehensive" insurance - and had my rating upgraded for free to Rating one - unlimited mods as long as they are legal and aproved - paying $1800 a year ( im now 25 )
car has agreed value and salvage rights and is currently being reassessed for the agreed value status ( due to new mods )
Hoping to see it around the 17k - 20k mark which would be sweet

OK Classique you win how about a ST205 GrpA?, Insurance for a year is similar to that of selling price of my SA63 & maybe MA61 together

That was my exact rationale! That and the unique factor, but to a certain extent all GT4s are rare...

I own a japanese ST205 GT4 (personal import). Im paying $2100 with just car (60% no claim bonus), full comprehensive, covered for $27000, 23 yrs old. I think thats pretty reasonable considering i was paying $1900 for a 1995 ST204R.

man i argued with just car here in adleiade, and they said they wouldnt give me more than a worth of $12,500 for my ST185 Grp A......bastards.
spose it to do with the fact im 19.....and i rear ended someone once?????
anyway, $2543 for full comprehensive, $1200 excess, shannons wouldnt insure me coz id rack up over 800km a week avereage.
i plan to bargain with the bastards wen i turn 20, get some other quotes, see what i can do.
oh and trying to fit a 205 spec into a 165? u'll have hood clearance issues apparently, with the top mount, and there isnt much room for a front mount at all
