Quick checklist..just guessing prices. May have left stuff out as I have never done this before:

- Manual g/box lets say $300-400
- Master cylinder $50
- Slave cylinder (may come with gbox) $30
- Wreckers for pedal etc $60
- New clutch $120

Lets say about $600 - $700.. but I'm really novice on this so maybe somebody else could help!
If you didn't do it yourself labour would be pretty costly I'd say close to a grand just for labour

They're FWD aren't they, so you may need different driveshafts also.

Is it carby? If it's fuel injection with comp, there may be a few other things needed to do.

Just sell it and get a manual. Save a lot of hassle Very Happy

85 Celica should be an RA65, ie RWD with 22R-E. The list above covers most of what you need, but you'll also need a manual transmission crossmember and the front half of the tailshaft from a manual SA63/RA65/MA61 (it's a different length). Remember the W57/58 has many different shifter positions so make sure you get the correct one for your car or you'll have a lot of headaches, and of course make sure you get an R series bellhousing as well. The easiest way is to get a transmission from an RA60/RA65, that way you know it will have the correct bellhousing, crossmember and shifter!
