Just wondering how much difference having a short run to and from the intercooler would have on performance. It would only really effect lag would it not? I am running a AVO intercooler on a 3tgte. The air inflow comes from the drivers side to the turbo on the passenger side, to the lower of the frount mount intercooler on the drivers side out the lower passenger side up around and into the top of the engine. Wondering as my boot comes on pretty late at around 3500 with the standard ct20. Was thinking relocating the battery and changing intercooler for one with input/output on same side. Then it would go from passenger side to turbo passenger side of motor in passenger side intercooler out passenger side intercooler and into passaenger side motor Would this be worth doing? or make minimal difference?
I did something similar to reduce lag and it helped when i stepped up to a T04E. Have a look on my website and you'll see how the piping is different to a standard 7mgte.
Another great way to reduce lag is to throw extra fuel in, about 20-25% and as the engine runs rich the exhaust gases are also very rich and heavier. These heavier gases turn the exhuast impeller alot harder and reduce spool up time.
Thats how mine is setup again to help reduce lag and get onto boost faster.
