hey all,

im just about to put a 3" exhaust, and bigger cooler on my 7mgte, just wondering if i need to get a dyno tune after wards? will these mods upset many things or will i be right?

is there anything else i can do apart from dyno tune every time i mod something? cos the next thing on the list is the lexus afm to raise the boost cut a bit, how about that, will this f**k things up or what?

thanks
Geoff

There is no such thing as a dyno tune if you don't have a programmable ECU. I'm assuming this by the fact you want to do the Lexus AFM mod.

That said, for your own interest it'd probably be nice to do a dyno run to see where you're at Smile

uh huh, thanks, so if i do those mentioned mods, it wont f**k the a/f ratio etc etc? and is the only way to fix all that is to get a aftermarket ecu?

dyno is just a convenient place (ie, rolling road rather than real road) to be able to check your AFR's.... if your AFR is correct, then power is good... sure there is a bit of mucking around, but with the turbo, as long as you are getting 12:1 under full load, you are usually fine..

where a dyno comes into it's own is when tuning the timing, as thats much harder to do on the road..

if you know someone with a wideband, or get your own (like the DIY-WB or the upcoming PWC), then you can tune on the road pretty well...

if you are doing major mods, and you are worried, just go on the dyno and get AFR graphs, rather than power curves.. if you plan on doing a few runs, then hopefully they will take care of you...
maybe talk to 10sec-rx7?? (dale) and see what he can do for you..

Cya, Stewart
