Never heard of such a beast. But why would you? You could almost fit two of them in a MA61 engine bay!

JTCC or whatever that series is called used 3SGTEs in the JZ80 RZ Supra. Better weight distribution and more boost meant the 3SGTE was a better package than the 2JZTE.
See, fact is stranger than fiction

but boost limits and crazy cooling factors need to apply to a road car.

Just pointing out that it's not as bad a conversion as it 1st seems.
The MA61 is lighter than a GT4. You'll get good hp and torque froma modded 3SGTE at far less weight than say a 7MGTE. I'd happily drop a 3SGTE into a MA6* series Supra and be confident that it would out perform most.
that said what i would most likely do would be to do what Norbie did and go 2JZTE...i'd go big single turbo though.

reply
take one mint supra with a tired 5me + auto thats sitting in the garage basically gathering dust
Take one spare 3sgte sitting next to mint supra, that needs a home ..
Stir , shake , mix and blend
Create road going version of "retro" jgtc car and yes - weight - less than gt4 , 3sgte is a strong little bugger , Said weight distribution , and plus , it hasnt been done!
Add mild boost( big boost not needed thats what my gt4's motor is for ) , and a decent LSD thats there to said neat handling and braking package of ma61 , with a sprinkle of w57 gearbox and fun is to be had
On the basis of a ta22 3sgte swap guide , the package to put it in should be similar in some respects for clutch/gearbox etc needs .
As i said - its just an idea im throwing around at the monent .. I know the costs wouldnt be all that friendly , but then again - what conversion/modification costs are

thats only because of the regulations in regard to the boost allowed on the 2J compared to the 3S, allowed the 3S to make more power, the weight/balance thing was a bonus, well apparently according to the workshop anyway

LOL he's got you there Justen.
I reckon a 3S-GTE into an SA63 Celica would be great, but when the Supra is built around a big inline six it seems silly not to go that route, especially when there's a range of awesome turbo inline sixes that slot in relatively easily. Much more easily than a 3S-GTE in fact!

7m was the other tried tested and sucessful option to run with ..

Yeah but i already have a 3SGTE Norbie....and a quick one at that. It was time for something different
It's all horses for courses. Like i said i'd probably go for the 2JZ option myself but to reiterate, the 3S option is far from stupid, that's all i'm saying

as far as ed and i deduced, the 3S into a MA61 is only worth the trouble if you build a absolute all out grunter engine.
putting a stock 3S-GTE in would be no better than putting in a 1JZ or 7M which a less trouble and more torque-y.
