g'day guys.
i was wondering, if a an ae82 twincam (bigport) had a couple of mods like:
CAI with high flow or rampod filter
4-2-1 extractors
mandrel bent exahust system with high flow cat and muffler(2.25 inch or 2.5)
port and polish, and other minor headwork
272deg or smaller cams
prety much about a 1000$ worth of mods.
would be able to accelerate to 100km/hr in about 8 seconds?
what do u rekon a 1/4 mile time would be???
(judging it was driven correctly, the engine is in good order and was using high-octane fuel)
is there anyother relatively cheap mods i have left out to increase performance? any opinions would be much appreciated.

Well turbo is always gonna be the answer when the question is quarter mile times.
A non-turbs 1600 is never gonna be a drag car.
I got similar mods to the bigport in my sprinter, its nice through the hills, but I dont like thinking about what its 1/4 mile time would be.

yeah i dont really care about 1/4 mile times either, its just that thats all any1 ever see's to talk about when they are talking about car speed.
id much rather have a good 0-100 time, as id almost never go over 140 in the streets. i just want to be able to flog it around corners and get the jump on cars at the lights !!!
how quick do u think ur sprinter would get to 100km/hr or even 60 or 80km/hr? i just want to accelerate quickly!!! (and no turbos!)

well ok , maybe 1500$.
rekon exhaust can be done for 500 if u source ur own parts (extractors, muffler, catback) and only pay for pipng and installation.
CAI can be done easy for like 80$ if its a home job (30$ pipes , 50$ filter)
cams maybe 300-400$ max
so maybe 1000$ for that gear.
port and polish i dunno but depends if u ahve mates in the industry. is it really expesive is it?
how much is a performance chip for a bigport guys?

I've heard from a mate that these ae82 twincams with 272 cams , port polish, piggyback ecu, exhaust, extractors, did like 13s...
He raced a 4agze ae82 and yeah kept about 1 car length ahead....
Turbo isn't always the option...
With me.. The car could get to 100kms an hour in 13 minutes, but if its fun gettting to that speed, i'm happy.. I'm more interested in response, thats where NA comes in, the power comes in a bit more linear than the turbo... Hill runs are a lot more fun than driving ur car really hard just down a 1/4 mile to me.. its fun to watch, just not that appealing when u've just raced someone at the lights, and ur sitting beside the road with a cop telling u that u've just lost ur licence...
Wouldn't be much fun at all...
Regards
Adrian

that is absolutely awsome!
13 second passes of an original 86Kw engine, without using forced induction is awsome!
sounds too good to be true?
does anyone else agree that it is possible? or think otherwise?
he must have had other mods or an engine swap?

Yeah, I find it a bit hard to beleive. My AE82 has the smallport engine with all those mods and more and the best it has ever had on the G-Tech was a 14.2 and that may have been typical g-tech innacurate.

That's the way dude!!!
I reckon it'd go about 13-14sec for a 1/4mile if it gets up to 100km/h in 8secs...just a guestimate
