With the RWD 4A-GE Water Lines that go towards the back of the motor.
Can someone tell me why the top water line (the one that goes to the back of the head) has usually has a T-piece with a hose going somewhere else (where does that hose goto?)
I know the bottom water line goes to the heater.
Cheers

Not 100% sure but from memory there was a hose around there with a T piece that was to heat the throttle body/idle up valve.
Hope this helps.

the top pipe (from the head) the small tee off it goes to the throttle body (warm up/idle down) the bottom pipe (big one off the water pump) has a small tee, this goes to the throttle body as well (warm up/idle down) return. the lines for the heater are off the thermostat housing/rear of head.

I think you guys have missed the plot.
Federal: I think you are thinking of your 4age which will have the thermostat ontop of the gbox ala FWD. Where as the RWD setup has it just behind the water pump.
Below is a pic taken from the 4A-GTE article in the tech section

I want to know where the top water line on the left hand side (rear of the block) T's off to.

john,
i thought it went to the heater core.. but thinking about it there are 2 pipes - one big one (heater?) and one smaller one... that hooks back into the small top tube on the waterpump piping...
i'm obviously going to have to check my ae86 chassis manual....

the small pipe at the rear connects to a pipe coming off the rear water housing on the back of the head that holds the two sensors.
