i know a kit you would be looking at roughly 30-40 dollars if you rebuild it yourself.

No i dont, just seals and shit. If its piston you got thats hammered, go get yourself another caliper, and i know you cant buy them from toyota anymore cause they dun make em.

I wouldn't make them unless I really had to which I doubt I would. But a brake caliper piston is not a hard thing to make.
Take one solid block of steel, machine down to required Dia and then hollow out if you wish to save a few grams of weight.

well if ABS stock pistons for the old 'lux calipers, i'd say they also stock them for humble MA70?

i've had my best buys thru Budget Auto Parts at Oxley ... they buy their stuff from mostly parts wholesalers so prices are usually reasonable.

In my experience I have found that prices for brake parts vary more than prices for most other automotive parts.

As an example, I have had calipers rebuilt for a few cars in my time. By numerous shops I was quoted over twice the price I ended up paying. Stick away from chain and big name looking stores... go for something generic like Slacks Creek Brake and Clutch (QLD, sure there will be someone like this locally for all forum readers).

I paid $120ea for a pair of Land Cruiser calipers to be cleaned reco'd and painted, including new pistons, seal kits and bleed nipples... I was quoted $120 plus $22ea per piston by another shop, and in the same vicinity by two others.

Shop around Smile

just thought i'd mention that steel and aluminium, with a moisture containing fluid (since brake fluid is hygroscopic), is a baaad mix. the steel will corrode badly... thats why the steel pistons are chrome plated usually...

The pistons in the MA70 calipers are defiantly not chrome plated. They are rust plated though Rolling Eyes
But I thought most newer calipers had stainless pistons?
