but seem fine now
try server comcen.nsw.au.austnet.org
so type /server comcen.nsw.au.austnet.org

Austnet are currently being packeted with Gb of pings. The problem will only resolve once the tools who are causing the trouble get bored

AustNet suggests that users attempt to connect using the following addresses:
irc.netspace.com.au 6668
irc.pacific.net.au 6668
irc.iinet.net.au (WAIX clients only)
Although the problems the original poster referred to should be resolved by now.
