How much is it rubbing by?
This is going to sound stupid but if your panhard rod is like mine you might be able to turn it over and the rod itself will be maybe 4mm further away from the housing. In other words the rod isn't mounted in the center of the end mounting tube, its more toward one end.

hey im just gonna query you on the conversion... how did you get it in? did you use the whole axle and modify it to run coil springs or did you just use the centre? if you used the whole axle what axle shafts are you using?

Your problem with the panhard rod is an easy fix. I went through the same problem with mine when i put a borg warner diff into the back of my silly car. You will need a whiteline adjustable panhard rod for the ra23 celica and you will need to bend the centre of it to clear the back of the diff housing, i had the diff place bend the panhard rod for me, assuming that it would have been done with a fair amount of heat and some persuation. Condisdering that borg warner equiped cars came out with the panhard rod that was bent, it will not be a problem. Good luck

celicaboy with your question, you take the whole hilux diff and remove all the brackets, take the original brackets of the celica diff and have the welded onto the hilux diff, so it will all bolt straight in. You might need to modify your tailshaft, thats a matter of measuring from the centre of the hole where the centre bearing bolts to the floor to the yoke on the diff and have your tailshaft modified to be that legnth if it needs it at all. If the diff is to wide its just a case of having it shortened and have the axels repsplined and heat treated.

When you weld the panhard rod bracket onto the housing you need to extend the bracket to the rear so as the rod won't rub on the housing . This bracket also needs to be welded on last of all ,after welding on all other mounts fit the diff in the car with wheels on and sitting in ride hight position then do some measurement to get the diff sitting center then position the rod level with the car to get the position where the bracket needs to sit , I had to extend my bracket back about 25mm and up about 40mm to get the correct position .

From memory the tailshaft needs to be 6.7cm shorter, you can then re-drill the diff pinion flange to match the old T series one

Hmmm moving the braket out seems like the intelligent idea, lol oh well, if your like me and you welded it on before you put the diff in the car you might just have to bend it. As for the price of the adj panhard rod i think from memory, and that is very vauge at this point, that is was about 200 to 250.

I just brought an adjustable panhard rod from whiteline, it was only $100.

Problem is.. I brought it for an RA28 but it doesn't fit, its too short and the holes are too small.. They only have one part number for all the celica/rwd corollas. Anyone else had this problem?

Cheers
Joel

Joel, reference your Whiteline bar. Yep my adjustable end had a 12mm hole in the bush, Whiteline is sending a bush with 20mm orifice, to the suspension shop where the bar came from. These guys will press out old one and press in new one. My live axle assy is a re- bracketed MKII Corona. All brackets were removed from the MKII, and a set of brackets cut off a donor Celica assy. and attached to the Corona housing. The guys who did the job have a jig, and the whole exercise cost about $250.00- $300.00.
Any of the guys who followed me from Canberra to Dubbo, will tell you that my Celica sits really nicely on the road.
I am only fitting the Whiteline panhard rod to shift the diff assy over by 5mm, to get the centreing spot on. More cosmetic than anything else, but hey for $100.00 why not!

regards Chuck.

Sorry to re-visit this but are we talking a Hilux diff under the back of a TA22 or RA23 ? Part way thru the thread TA22 axle mounting brackets are mentioned and some that have modified the panhard rod bracket on this axle. Just wanting some clarification.
Thanks,
Mitch.
