You can keep your existing dash, just need to divide the frequency of the signal from the coil, nothing too sinister! I take it you dont want the analogue dash any more

if i can keep the electronic one i dont really want the analogue one...but if i have no choice, i'll need one!
How much am i looking at for a tach adapter?

The digital tacho is designed to be hooked up directly to the ignition coil; the internal electronics take care of the rest. If you use some sort of magical black box to intercept the signal from the coil on your V8 and change its frequency to that of a six cylinder, everything should work fine.
