Electronic guru's : Modifying ACIS

"Acoustic Control Induction System:
The ECU controls the position of the intake air control valve based on input signals from the throttle angle (VTA) and engine RPM (Ne). The VSV, which controls the vacuum supply to the actuator, is normally closed and passes vacuum to the actuator when it is energized by the ECU."
When the valve is open im led to believe the ECU advances the timing as well.
The question i ask is, how difficult is it to rig up some form of dodgy electronic interceptor to change the point at which VSV receives power(or is earthed)? Like an adjustable pot to either bring the VSV into play earlier or later in the rev range?
Easy? hard?
Feel free to shoot me down if you may so wish, but a flat spot in my dyno graph needs fixing

if you ran an aftermarket ECU that had programable outputs then it would probably be very easy to turn the vacuum solenoid for the ACIS on or off at a point of your choosing on a 2D/3D map.
... but for a stock install it's being controlled by code in the factory ECU... (e.g. hardwired)
also, if you modified the signals from the TPS (or VTA as you call it) or RPM then all manner of interesting nad possibly unhelpful things might happen...
maybe you should have a chat to Ed_MA61 about using ECUs to control devices under the bonnet? as he's obviously in that mode of thought judging by recent posts.
to answer your Q: easy if you have non-factory ECU, hard otherwise...

It would be quite possible to make a separate controller to operate the valve separately, thing is, why? Manufacturers have a knack of making those things change at a pretty good time anyway. Leave it disconnected, then connected, take a dyno pull of each, and see where it crosses.

Thats what i planned to do.
But im also planning some decent headwork. I figured the stock location would be perfect for a stock motor, not always a modified one.

Ahhh. Although, if you're planning on doing any worthwhile engine work, the the previous point about having other, more pressing engine management issues might come in handy

Yes, yes i know.
But in a interim state im thinking that it may be useable......or maybe i should just do it all at once.

huh? dont rope me into this buddy, youre on your own!!... i just bought some ITB's
as for the ACIS - i doubt youll find its the cause of that flat spot. ive fiddled mine quite a bit and has next to no impact on that 'step'
as mentioned above, it needs TUNING

Yeah, the unfortunate thing that I, along with thousands of others, have learnt many times over is that it's always best to spend far more than you want to in one hit

How did u fiddle?
The only way you can possibly fiddle with it is by altering the resistane to the VSV valve and make it open at a different time.
