is this normal? (ma61 clutch question) Mon, 26 April 2004 05:14 Go to next message
say I've just completely installed the engine, gbox, and all clutch items, then I've filled up the master cylinder.
is it normal for there to be absolutely no back pressure at all on the clutch pedal?
I know the system will need a serious bleed, but there is no pressure at all

Doesn't sound normal. Don't panic until the system is bled tho.

never mind
person who installed the clutch pedal (not me) didn't put the bolt that attaches the pedal to the plunger thing in. which explains the lack of pressure - the "plunger" (vocab is lacking atm) was only getting pushed 1-2cm when the pedal was right to the floor.

will fix it and see what happens

Good idea, and smack the pedal installer up side of the head and (unless it's you) never let them forget how they let you down on this otherwise fine day.

alright, that made things better
still almost no pressure, but there is some, which is what I was expecting - plus the slave cylinder (which I just installed) isn't leaking, a double bonus

Probably nothing wrong... same thing happened when I converted my car to manual. No pressure at all until I bled the clutch.
