hello every1, could an imported model car register without the compliance? i own this imported model ae86 without compliance plate on the firewall ... but the car registered with RTA b4 ..the rego still on the wind screen ..any1 know why

I had similar thoughts when checking out a 323i that had been imported from South Africa. No compliance plates, but it was registered. Rang a few people , including NRMA tech. The general opinion was that imports a few years ago didn't get plates (late 80's or so) and all should be good.
