Too good to be true? Tue, 27 April 2004 07:05 Go to next message
Hey guys,
Was wondering if anyone else has come across these slightly dodgy lookin deals... basically what u get when u win the auction is a link to a site that has a heap of car stereo gear for really cheap prices, eg an Alpine DVD head unit for $100 USD. Did a google search and there are heaps of these auctions around, i've included a couple below. There are a few on ebay Aus that are up around $150!!
Has anyone heard about these magical websites full of bargain price goodness?? Rolling Eyes

Sheesh. That does look GOOD!! But I think it's a little dodgy. See, he is auctioning the website URL that goes to a page that you can go to to get cheap. So ebay cannot pull the auction for being dodgy because you are getting exactly what he say, a URL. However, there is no telling what the site will be like. It could be very dodgy. Seems too good to be true.

But I am still tempted! Smile

Maybe we could all chip in on the ebay auction, making the overall purchase even less, then everyone on the forum can have some cheap in-car bling! Very Happy

Best of all it's 100% legit! You can honestly get this awesome deck for 100 bucks but all you gotta do is wait...

wait until someone has stolen one for you?

or wait 5 years until they are worth 100?

sounds like a good deal to me Very Happy

im only being as honest as i can

If you knew where to get the stuff that cheap, wouldn't you just not tell anyone and buy and sell the stuff on ebay?

And, if you could honestly sell that stuff that cheap, wouldn't your website be pretty well known in no time at all? You wouldn't be able to keep up with demand.

I think it stinks. Sucked in to all those who fall for it.

Remember the old saying: "If it's too good to be true..."

I'm interested....post results if u win the auction. It looks(from his other auctions) that he either gets clothes and sells them really cheap, or steals large quantities of crap from stores to sell....they are all pretty crazy sizes though XXXL and such

ive seen these with phones.
get the latest and greatest phone for 20 bux!
what happens is, you pay 100 bux, and your name gets on a list of 50 people. usually only about 5 of the 50 spaces on the list are full, and you are number 5. everyone on the list has paid their $100. when the list gets to 50, the person at the top of the list gets their phone/dvd player/xbox, whatever, sent out to them, and number 2 on the list is next. so then they have to wait to another 50 people to get their phone.
i think thats what this one is.

That sounds strangley like a pyramid scheme, and considering how long it take you might aswell save the money for whatever it is you want.
