I've heard that there will be a new Supra coming end of 2003 in Japan, mid 2004 here (very limited numbers, probably 100 only, due to new import laws etc.).
It is being brought out to compete with the R35 Skyline, Z-Car, and some other major car releases.
This is only speculation though... but I'm hoping for the best

Just another addition, there is also rumour that it will somehow be a Lexus Supra... what a great way to add another $100k to the price tag.

I thought the new skyline was going to be called the v35 skyline, since that it will be powered by the new VQ series of engines instead of the RB series? maybe I'm wrong yes??
It would be nice if I new supra was released, I think every manufacturer needs a flagship car for each brand...

what toyota NEED (and I recall a thread about this earlier) is a new mid-priced RWD sports car. much like what the celicas were ... except now they gay and FWD (ok, so I'm a little biased against FWD cars... the new celica is still good and fast).

i read somewhere ( might be just a rumour ) that there was going to be another GT4 being made with the next celica update.. Anyone heard a similar story
and nods - The supra or something big RWD and with killer performance NEEDS to be in the toyota lineup - as goes the GT4 again - to tackle the rex's and evo's. They cant tell me that pissbox excuse for a sbyder Mr2 is toyotas flagship sportscar - and to be honest - who wants a corolla that looks like your mums with a snail. Corollas Aint sportscars , they are econoboxes .. The last hiting at a sports corolla dervied car was the early sprinters and truenos IMHO.
Bring back a Celica with Balls - and the Supra !!

I reckon they need to bring back the Supra, they need something tough, a genuine Porsche 911/Skyline GTR basher again...
Also, I read in a MOTOR mag a while back about Toyota reviving the real Sprinter...they were going to make a light RWD coupe, powered by a BEAMS 3SGE or something like that...that would be awesome...something to go Type R spanking in...

Supposedly there will be a 'Supra' in 2004 powered by your choice of 3.4 L V6, or 4.3 L V8.

Gimme the 4.3l V8...ala VVti 3UZFE...and we'll whack a couple of turbos on it
Thats one way Toyota could strip a little more weight out of it without compromising on performance

I loved the tin can and the NOS bottle.

Suppose so, it could easily have been hyundai, daewoo, etc instead.
Doesn't matter though as they suck too.

whaaaaaat? a v8 option in the MKV ? that'd suck! wouldn't people rather a tough six? surely?
Mind you, the only benefit of a new Supra is my vouyerism, coz I'll only ever be looking Or maybe the price of the MKIv will come down to my level

Mid ranged RWD sports car?
Hope the rumours about the new Levin are true... BEAMS 3S-GE in a RWD package. Priced slightly above the Silly Car... *fingers crossed*

what draven said was right, bout the old celicas.
you cant buy mid price, rwd, sporty cars anymore.
'sports packs' dont count btw
but basically, the old celicas (ta22,ra2x) had it right. RWD, peppy engines (for their time), lots of extra stuff without having to pay for it (options i mean). just a good balance between performance and price.
I dont like having to tell people I have a ta22 anymore. Most ignorant people say "celica? thats a women's car". Ahhh its a shame that the celica's reputation has been taken away from the 'cheap and fun' car label to something a librarian would drive
