Im wondering what type of system im gonna put on my ma61.
Its twin pipes right through. Am considering either
-running one pipe each side of the rear of the car
-both coming out one side

I voted for having them both on the one side - I think it will suit the car/engine combo better.. Keep it old school

in my opinion having them on one side would better and would suit the car more then having one pipe on each side having one out each side really only looks good on the old falcons kingswoods monaros and toranas but then again it might not look to bad I'd have to see it before i'd judge it but

not legal - must exit after the last window
maybe use ovaled pipe instead of round - plus 2 x hot dog under car and one big-arse muffler at rear

correction, must exit behind the last OPENING window - which on an ma61 is in front of the rear wheel
blake, its a piece of piss to bring 2 pipes into on under the car
shane, sure about the drivers side thing?

100% sure. This is Australia wide aswell. You cant have them exiting onto the footpath.

i spoke to a guy from the rta abour vehicle standards and he said it only needed to not protrude dangerously and that it needn't be behind any windows or such....

remember: target vehicle has to pass Qld engineers inspection - so allow for them to be more than cursory in their assessment of mods.
...unless V8_MA61's found a reputable certifier who understands the value of beer.

I voted subtle twin-pipes, you don't need something that *looks* huge. Having said that, without a drop tank or other form of custom tanks, or side-pipes which goes against the whole subtle thing, it ain't going to happen on an MA61.

I was under the impression that your exhaust had to exit your car behind the last point of the passenger cabin i.e. behind the back seat. I can remeber that from somewhere and I have a whole lot of regs on whats legal for your car at home, so it could have been from there.
It could be the last opening window though....
If anyone really wants to know there's a copy of the ADR's for passenger cars and motorbikes in the uni libary. I'll go and look it up if theres enough interest.

twin 3" exhausts right through i have been told by my engine designer man with 35 yoe, and 3 mufler shops.
I cant see converting into one pipe under the car is going to be successful.

Actually I'm pretty sure that rule applies to ANY opening, not just the window. The idea is to stop any exhaust fumes getting into the cabin, and that can just as easily happen if you have a dodgy hatch seal. I don't think you're going to get side pipes legal on a Supra.
Personally I'd go with the easiest/cheapest option, which I suspect would be both pipes on one side. Somehow I doubt Mr Toyota designed these cars with dual exhausts in mind!

I like the one exhaust out each side. They just cannot be massive. About 2.5in maximum i reckon.

JAZE had twin 3in dumps into twin hi flow cats, merging into a single 3.5in pipe. This was on a 1JZGTE in his MA61, only thing that preventing twin pipes.....there is NO ROOM!
You won't be able to run twin pipes without redesigning your fuel tank.
I would just run a similar system to that.

Exaust out the side would look ok but doubt if it`s legal.
Two pipes out the back would look nice too but that damnn fuel tank isn`t going to let that happen!!I have a 2 1/2" single system following the original route......cheap ,simple and doesn`t give anything away.
good luck.

I vote the twin pipes 2.5" - if they can fit. IMHO you must have a balance pipe so that you don't get the horrible cackle (think Holden yuk).
