Nice one Gotta love the escort! They still make tonnes of cheap competition parts for these beasts as long as you know who to talk to.
Now you just need $25,000 and a BDG engine

I think you mean BDA (belt driven type A) dude. That was (is) a truly awesome engine!

Believe it or not, although just about everyone says 'BDA' when they refer to the 2 litre cosworth engine that the shoved in the Mk 2 Escort, the BDA is actually the 1600 cosworth that they put into the Mk 1 Escort.
The BDG is the 2 litre engine, everything is pretty much the same (head/crank etc) except the BDG has ~90mm bore as opposed to the BDA's ~ 85mm.
And yes - it is a truly awesome engine! Love the sound of them at 9000rpm (sound a lot better than the 'Pinto' engines)

I stand corrected, i thought you just made a typo. I have never heard the 2l referred to as BDGs before. Cheers! :)PS: my first car was a Mk1 2 door, white, with a mild 1.6l crossflow, minilite rimsb (the original Performance brand), 1/4 bumpers, and a lights kit. Sadly i wrapped it round a tree. I want another one!
By the way, for 25k you could get an original RS1600!

Yep - I probably call them BDAs more often than I call them BDGs myself! BDG doesn't sound right
I can't say I'm a huge escort nut, but I know the Mk 2s pretty well, my brother rallies one and I'm always stuck doing work on it (to the detriment of time to work on my car).
Mmmmm lotus twin cam eski
