Oil Filter Z89A? Tue, 27 April 2004 15:51 Go to next message
Does anyone know what engine/car a Z89A oil filter is off? I'm finding it hard to buy one at places like Supercheap. I think it's a Ryco filter.

I'm running it because of my oil cooler and remote oil filter kit.

It says it's off a:

FORD TE50, TL50, TS50 AU, AUII MPFI V8 5605cc, & 4942cc (w/Oil Cooler) 10/99-02 Oil FF Z89A * AFL5071

What is an AU 2 MPFI V8? Obviously all Falcon variations.

But that doesn't sound right! Can anyone confirm this? What other brands and codes would fit? Apparantly the Ford Pinto is the same Z89A, but also takes the Z10. The 300tdi or whatever that is also takes a Z89A.

I would prefer a toyota genuine oil filter if they make the same size. And on the same note, who makes the best oil filters for a reasonable price?

yes, a Z89A filter is standard fitment on a T series engine (ala TA22)

here is the application list : http://www.rycofilters.com.au/productcatalogue.php ?listing=num&rycoPartNumber=Z89A

you'll find its about $16 at most places - its bloody expensive - i use one on my remote filter as its smaller than a Z9 (BTW the Z9 and Z89A filters have the same thread pattern/mounting face - the Z9 is about $3 though vs $16

Danish,

As far as I know the cooler kit was desgined to fit a z9 filter as they are the most common type and as Grega says - Cheap!. Unless you have mounted it where you need a smaller filter I'd go a Z9. Smile

Great! Thanks, I might just get both and see which one fits. Is the Z9 much bigger than the Z89A? Is there much point getting a Toyota genuine engine oil filter, they are $17 locally? I hear they are a lot better.

I'm assuming the part numbers are "15600-25010, 15601-25010"?

Z9 seems like a good idea since they get changed on my car every 5000km.
