easy way of making mp3 track listings???	Wed, 28 April 2004 08:09

ive got a small fuckload of mp3s on around 6 CDs sitting here, and was wondering if theres anyway of generating a text list of all the files on these CDs to be used as a simple track listing? id imagine theres probably some DOS listing i can make or some shit, but i have NFI what im doing in that respect, so if someone cares to explain it to me cheers guys ed [Report message to a moderator]

winamp can generate a html list based on ur playlist. that would be typed in the dos prompt [Report message to a moderator]

Well that way sounds better to me (although I wouldn't have known about it ) FYI - The DOS way you would need to go to a Command prompt, and go to the root level of the folders you want to list (in this case probably the CD Rom drive eg. E:) Type the command: dir (<-- gives the firectory listing) .mp3 (<-- of all files with a .mp3 extension) /s (<-- includes sub-directories in the listing) >filename.txt* (<-- Outputs - or pipes - the results to a text file named filename.txt) OK, I'll go away now... btw - I miss my DOS!! can i just say nothing gives me tears more than a massive jumble of mp3s like that above...!!! how do you ever find anything. as a rule, i dont d/l anything unless i can get the whole album in 1 hit... and file it that way. anal? yes! effective? yes also! [Report message to a moderator]

I'd post mine, but there are more than 7000 of them ed - I'm the same, tend to like to download whole albums, but that's only of the good stuff. Crap stuff I just download single songs (incidentally, I own most of the CDs of full albums I've downloaded) [Report message to a moderator]

max - pm'd dave... you want me to burn a whole CD for just one album? though it is a damn fine album BTW: all tracks ive ripped myself are variable rate 128-320kbps averaged around 190, so theyre a little larger than usual, but worth every byte. all others ive download are atleast 160kbps [Report message to a moderator]
