Hey, i got 1 3/4 exhaust system with the resinator in the middle and i want to chop off the sh*T soundin stock muffler on the end and replace it with this autotechnica 3.5 inch tip hotdog muffler i got. Now would that be enuf to give me a nice note out the back or should i remove the resinator as well, its easy to do just i dont know if anyone has any advice on the best option before i crack out the grinder.
I dont wnana buy a new exhaust coz the one i got is pretty good.
So thats not an option

i hav a fairly small exhaust (slightly larger than standard) with a 3in cannon on my ma61. The 5me sure belts out the notes. It very loud, but it sounds nice. Im sure any cannon with a resonator will make your exhaust note sweet as.
I wouldnt take the resonator out, itll be just too loud.

it depends on what motor, what capacity and whats it's uses are.

hotdogs aren't really mufflers.. they are usually abotu as good as muffling as a hot dog you eat Wink

if you want a rice note, it should work ok, but keep the resonator... the less muffler you have, the more police attention you attract!!!

for my 4K i have a 2" system, 2 resonators, and a large chambered reverse flow muffler..
it's pretty quiet... but i guess thats not wot u r afta?

Hi,

My MA61 has extractors running in to 2 1/2" stainless steel all the way thru to a Magnaflow muffler (2 1/2" in 4" out). Not suprisingly, it was too loud and backfired a lot. I chucked on a resonator and it quietened down a bit but still had a very nice chunky note and was below the legal limit. Got rid of the backfire too (bit of backpressure).

As for performance, I couldn't tell you because I bought the car how it is (minus resonator) and needed to put the resonator on for roadworthy purposes. Haven't been pulled over yet either.

Cheers,

Ben
