hey you guys ive got a mate with a vb, with a 202 in it at the moment. he was saying the other day that he wanted to put a later model holden v8 (preferably gen 3 ) but i think he should do something original and go a 2jz or something, what do you think???? i reckon itd not only be a good original change, but also a lot faster than some iron lump......

Top stuff - 1JZGTE (2jz or 1uz(turbo!) if $ permit!) would be the go. Only other thing is don't underestimate the punch a well done v8 CAN give though! But it DOES take a lot of $, fuel and noise to produce... I've yet to find a turbo car that can QUITE fill the hole of a really tough old school engine + tuff auto trans at full noise. But as I said, there are some HUGE tradeoffs and $ to wear with an engine like that! Oh yeah, don't go thinking I'm old school or something, my car is a 4ag turbo.

1uz is my bet.. um, yes a VL x-member will fit but you will have probs with the trans tunnel being too small.

Quite right, I'd go for a 1/2jz over an RB. Unmodified RB engines certainly don't go as hard as the JZ's, and don't even mention atmo RB's - sluggish little mongrels they are. (I'll quietly leave the RB26 unmentioned and excluded from that category!) If you want an engine to put in there and leave fairly close to stock (e.g. bigger cooler, bigger exhaust and a bit more boost), the toyota ones seem to have the upper hand, not to mention being cheaper! Plus its a Toyota
