Power window conversion - ST162 Celica Fri, 30 April 2004 05:25 Go to next message
Hey guys,

I am a total noob here, (posted an intro and pics of my car in the Member's Rides section) but I do have a question already!

A guy I know is parting out an '88 Celica and I am planning to buy the electric window setup from him to install in my car. I am just wondering if anyone here has done this before? Just curious to know if it's harder than it first seems or something, and perhaps a list of all the bits to make sure I get so I don't miss something. I know I'm going to have to install a bit of wiring myself (maybe even direct to the battery) but I have a Chiltons manual and a decent understanding of auto electrics so I am not put off by that at all.

By the way, would the relays etc involved here all operate on 12V? Just want to make sure I don't go connecting something up and it blows because it was really meant for 5V or something.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Cheers,
Matt

This should be reasonably straightforward, but for preference you do the stripping, so you can get all the cable interconnects for remote window switching, power feed etc.and also to see how it all hooks together. For simplicity, try to get the doors complete for swapping all the bits across.
