hey guys..
ok, I've got a t25 from a sr20 on a 4agze, I rebuilt it (1200 bux - hybrid t28 thing)
Its been leaking oil just above the oil drain, not sure what its called, its between the two housings.
I've had it all checked out, the turbo pulled apart again and is spot on.
Its like the oil is not draining away properly and instead is squizzing out the oil seal or something!
the car is also puffing smoke when I back off after I put my foot into it... burning oil away.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

cheers
hope someone can help ..i'm out I've ideas

Brian

Sure sounds like a seal to me, but if you've had it apart and checked, that's a bit odd.

brian whats the diameter of your drain pipe back to the sump?
i'd be checking to make sure the drain is not blocked, and, that its a good enough diameter to flow to the sump - also how high is the turbo mounted up - is there a long enough decent feed for gravity to drain back to the sump?

thanx Grega, the inside diameter of the pipe to the sump is
1 1/4 inch .
the turbo is level with the camcovers,

so it should be right Rolling Eyes

could it be getting too much oil? there's no pump, just a pipe from the block in to the top of the turbo.

I took the oil drain hose off the turbo while the car was running and there was a thin constant flow of oil.. looked about 1mm thick.

cheers
Brian

Sump pressurisation, not allowing the oil to drain back. To test, crack the oil dipstick and take it for a drive, if it doesn't do it, that's the problem.

Just crack it and wire it to something close, so it isn't pushed out.
