Detailing a Engine bay!!! FUNNY STORY Sat, 01 May 2004 06:13 Go to next message
Well today I was washing this Hyandai Excel which was a delivery in our used car department at Toyota...

Now i decided for the first time ever, to detail the engine bay. I had the high pressure hose next to me, and *degreaser*.

I applied the *degreaser* over the head cover, and just around the engine bay quite vigorously....

Now i hosed it off with the pressure hose, really came out nicely, but coz the car was still warm there was a bit of steam coming from the engine...

Now after a while I actually found out that the bottle of *degreaser* wasn't actually what i thought it was...

It was actually ACID, it said it in the FAINTEST TEXTURE mark u'd ever see, just sitting next to the other bottles...
So yeah thats why the *degreaser* word is surrounded in * * in my story....

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked
Supposably it was hydrochloric acid....... They use it as a mag wheel cleaner too!!!
If i got ANY on my hands (which was bloody lucky i didn't) i would have had some SERIOUS burns...
Not to mention the fact that the acid was on the exhaust manifolds and on the hot engine, if the acid got too hot, it could have exploded....

Scary but funny...
Engine bay looks good though..... Laughing Laughing

hmmm....

Now I'm wondering how much sprayed over the place when you hit it with the high pressure hose and how much paint was taken off, AND, how many rubber hoses were destroyed?

Plus doesn't that stuff get more aggressive when it's wet?

hehe ahh acid...

i used to make soap, yes yes like in fight club, we used sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) in a liquid form, now if this shit gets on you, in a concentrated form, say goodbye to your first 5 layers of skin, trust me, i have a scar on my right hand that proves it, fucking ouch!

HEHEHE.

Glad u liked my story everyone....

I don't think there were any pipes that had burst or anything, its not my fault if it does happen.. the label was TINY on it, it wasn't even a label..

Come on though, who puts ACID next to the other detailing bottles.....

Yeah lucky my hands were away,

Not sure if it was diluted..
The spray gun was really difficult to spray at first, so i got a new spray top bit, but i think i know why the first wasn't working, coz the insides were completely melted...

hahaha

Regards
Adrian!
