Brake upgrade '01 rolla Sat, 01 May 2004 15:40 Go to next message
Looking for some more advice, the stock skids are becoming useless on my 2001 rolla. looking for an upgrade, at the moment the is disc front/drum back.. wouldnt mind going to disk on the back any one made this conv yet? i know u can get the back end system from the conquest...

Has any one drilled/slotted their stock rotors, is this a noticeable difference? i dont have pad fade, just when i jam the skids from hi speed, its taking a bit too long to wash the speed off

or should i just get new rotors/calipers? I am open to suggestions, not done any major work on brake b4! and if any one know prices.. please let me know!

Cheers

its an AE-112r...

I was looking at the DBA golds or DBA standard - slotted.. with bendix ultimates, dust doesnt bother me.. any one got any ideas on cost of these rotors? (no one has prices for them on the web, just for crapodoors and falcoons.. and the occasional wrx...)

is there any " upgrade " for drums, or should i just pull them?

From memory around the $400 mark/pair, go slotted as x-drilled can crack.

AE101 Levin, are the biggest I know of,costs around $200-300 from import wreckers. Then there are the AE102/AE112 rears, which are smaller, then the AE92/93 slightly smaller again, and the AE82 twin cam stuff, all calipers I have found do have the same bolt pattern/spacing, but don't quote me on that. You will need the AE102/112 Carriers as these will bolt direct up to your control arms an then allow your choice of rotors and calipers you choose...Other thing, you may need a new Proportioning valve, disc and drums have different pressures and does the car have ABS?

Yeah I had heard abou the cracking, slotted it is!..

The car doesnt have ABS (thank god, I cant stand it) Razz

So from the wreckers i would need to get:

Rotors
Calipers
Carriers
and a new proportioning valve!
Will the hoses match or will i need to get lines made up? having never done a drum to disk conversion b4, is it a major job?

Why do you ask about the ABS??? thanks for the help!

BTW the prices u listed is that for the gold or the one below with just the slots?

some have different carriers to allow the ABS pickup.
