Toyota 1200 ute engine conversion Mon, 03 May 2004 08:57 Go to next message
Bought the car 3 months ago and i looking at what motor would be the easiest to fit.Its got a 3k and a 4spd in it, nothing has been touched .The engine bay seems smaller than the corolla 3k.
Any ideas what would fit???

You could probably fit a 2TG or a 4AG in there.

That said, if you did that, I'd hunt you down, kill you and claim that delightful little Publica ute as my own.

Keep it standard and enjoy it for what it is. There are heaps of KE35 Corollas you can butcher.

There is only about 60cm from the firewall to radiator.
Everything else will be left standard ,even the 12inch rims ,except for the motor.

I don't now about engine bay size is similar to that of Datsun 1200 ute, but my panel beater has a Chev 350 in his and can do 10s when it was in it's prime Laughing

That may be an idea, though the firewall was a work of art Rolling Eyes

Cheers.

I would treat that ute the same as I would a KE10 Corolla. Nothing but a K motor. Get a 5K if you want, or a 7K-E at the very wildest. Most people tend to use a 4K, with 3K head, mild cam, different carb etc which can make for a good motor if done right.

Was this a Aust. delivered car? Can't remember seeing any before.
