icon10.gif  Brisbane Drag Day, new weather details::: 2 DEGREES Mon, 03 May 2004 10:32 Go to next message
Saturday the 29th May is the 8th round of the Street Series at Willowbank Raceway.

I propose we all meet up at approximately 1 pm at different locations at on the northside and southside, {maybe hyperdome and aspley maccas}, and head over to the Mobil Servo at Yamanto on the right hand side about 5 km b4 willowbank.
Meet there, then make our way to the track at about 1:45 so when the track opens at 2pm we get in early and get a few runs b4 it all starts filling up.

The qualifying will start at 2.30 pm.
the way this event will be run is as follows, basically u run what u brung in the qualifiers and u just come back around and line up for another.
If possible {feasible} u can line up a car of your choice. they have 8 lanes of traffic called the staging lanes, if u wanna race someone make sure they are either in front or behind you as they call u in pairs from each lane, 50% of the time u will not get the person u wanna race, just ask the official nicely if u can wait a turn cause u wanna race your mate, and they will usually let u.

u do this for 3.5 hours till 6 pm when it becomes eliminations, u can opt to run in this or not, if u do, then you choose a "dial-in" and they will put an "ET" {elapsed time} on your LHR window. You choose your ET, lets say if in qualifying u run a 16.20, a 16.20, a 16.10 and a 16.15 u would be best to say u wanna put it to a 16.00 time.
If the car in the next lane "dials-in" at 13.00, u will leave the line exactly 3.00 seconds BEFORE him, and he has to chase you down, now u may be thinking why dont i just put a 20 second dial in so i get a huge head start, if u cross the line QUICKER what your "dial-in" then u "break-out", and u lose.
Basically u wanna run as close to your dial-in but not go quicker.

if u dont wanna run in the eliminations, then u can just keep going round and around till they close the gates at about 10pm
If u dont win the eliminations, u dont have to sit the rest of the night out, u can just go back and keep racing your mates {u dont win anything tho}

i forgot pricing

$15 to spectate
$32 to race which gets in one driver and 1 "crew member", so basically u get to drive for $2.
since its a legit ANDRA event, it'll cost $5 for a ANDRA day licence.

u need a helmet, a basic bike helmet is ok, doesnt have to be full faced either.

and u need a long sleeve shirt {spare jumper will do} and long sleeve shirts and shoes

they will be doing basic scrutineering at the event too, basically u need a secure battery, a radiator over flow and not a heap of shit floating around, and no leaks at all

nope, it is $32 for you and a "crewman" and i think phil said extra $5 because this is ANDRA event. That is the advantage of getting there early, same price but more runs!

yep, its $15 to watch per person or $32 to race and u get one person in as a crew member, so basically its $2 extra to race.
And since its an ANDRA sanctioned event u will require a day licence, AND, since its 2 weeks away from the winternats, there will be some heavy hitters out there too, i.e. top fuel, maybe top doorslammer.

i'll be bringing the wife so someone else had better bring their missus' too.

btw, i wont have my new head Sad

just wondering about a worst case scenario here. But do you need headlights to race? I have an electrical problem that has stopped my headlights from working??? I took it to auto elec yesterday and they basically said it could cost up to $500 or even more and they couldn't guarantee that they could fix it? So if I don't have any headlights, can I just tow it down there and race?

thanks
