Can i run a Beams 3sge motor with a 1st gen harness and ecu?

If not, can i run a 2nd or 3rd gen 3sge motor with a 1st gen ecu and harness?

Which motor is better if i want to smog here in the states?

No, the Gen4 engines wouldn't respond to the earlier ECUs too well. For compliance, I'm not sure about your part of the world, but I'd imagine that your only option would be Gen4 everything (that's how it works here, and I gather it's tougher for you guys than us)

What about running a 1st or 2nd 3sge turbo'd?

Could i run reliable boost on a none turbo 3sge?

Ive read somewhere where they put a 2nd gen 3sge in and they put the 1st gen sencors and manifolds on it and it passed smog!

Could this work?

What all would i need?

the BEAMS is an all or nothing deal.
without the lighter internals, you are not going to get the same power out of it.

without the VVT control,

etc etc

you need to find out mroe infornamtion about the beams motor so then you'll understand why it can't be done so easily...

I do know of a car that was running a 2nd gen 3SGE with a 1st gen intake manifold and ECU. This was in a ST162 Celica. The intake was mandatory as the new intake hit the firewall. The 2nd gen engine didn't have the ECU so the next best option was taken.
