Guys quick question,
Have any of you guys gone away for an extended period of time, etc and didnt drive your car for 2-3 months?
Should I just keep the car in the garage for 2 months as per normal or should I arrange for someone to start it once a week etc?
I guess im referring to the oil, fluids etc. Whats theh general recommendation?
Cheers

I've just come back from 2 months away and my car started fine, it was a touch low on water, but the rest was ok, and it wasn't even properly garaged, it was only covered by 3 walls, not 4

If its an old car and you want to be sure its going to start when you get back I would get someone to start it at least once a fortnight.

Yeah, if it can be arranged, get someone to start it at least once every two weeks.

did you guys realise that it should actually be driven not just started? (at least that is what I have been told) that way it keeps everything lubed and in working order. feel free to let me know if I have been misinformed!

Obviously better if you drive so as to work all the moving parts but starting without driving is still better than nothing if you want it to start first go after a long lay-up.

Start it up and let it run for a while..at least operating temp. It's good to keep the battery active and charged after the initial start.
Ultra long trips...roll those tyres!

only trouble ive had was a car not used for 4 months and the rear brakes had seized up because the hand brake was on (drums) dont know if thats a problem with disk brake rear or not..but if you can leave the handbrake off And the tyres loose pressure so bump them up to 45psi or so before you park it if its not gonna be started unhook the battery... and dont leave it with too much gas in the tank

actually i might be wrong here but if what goes with boats is the same with cars then you should leave the tank full as it prevents condensation and moisture forming in the tank

That's a good point with the fuel tank, keeping it full, another plus is that a tank with a little fuel & alot of vapour is alot more volatile than a tank full of fuel with very little vapour.

My motor is out of the car and I have around half the fuel tank... Does that mean it will start first time or will I have a few troubles... The fuel lines are blocked at the rail and the battery is disconnected... Also, it's been off the road for 3 months and probably will be for another 2...
