Hi there,
Just have a quick question on where to get a Nokia Genuine batteries cheap or good substitutes. I got a battery from Strathfield (Li ion I think) for 3210 (a $7 special) and it doesn't even last a day!!
Any help would be great,
Ben

Just ring them mate. I've never used the webpage before as the service over the phone is enough. They are also very cheap.

did you fully charge the new battery for the designated time ie several hours ?
cant remember what compound it is yet a certian type of battery can be revitalised by freezing it ( as long as its done in an airtight bag to combat moisture )

Watch for the rating on the battery.
I once got a battery that suited 5110 - 6210 (for my 6150). The rating was too low, so once the phone got to 2 bars, it would shut itself off.

Thats what you get when you use a hamer to charge them. Seriously though, if this has happened to you, you have a problem with your charger.

I thought the charger stopped charging when the battery was full

the thing with some types of batteries (depending on the materials its made from - NiCa, LiIon, dunno which one) is that when you constantly charge them when not fully depleted, just say 1/4 full, they have a 'memory' effect, and the battery will 'think' that this level (1/4 full) is empty, and when its gets to 1/4 full, it will run out of juice and die, and the battery will not last as long as it should have.
thats why every now and then you should let your phone run down to empty battery until it turns off, and then charge, to get the most out of it.

My understanding is that the NiCd (Ni-cad) batteries are the ones that suffer from memory effect.
The NiMH (Nickel metal hydrid) and the LiION (Lithium Ion) do not. (Well, only a very very tiny portion anyway, compared to the NiCd.)

Batteries do not suffer from the memory effect these days. Memory effect came from satellites years ago when the batteries were getting the exact same charge at the exact same time of day.
Do some research, its very interesting.

I've always found the best thing to do is get them "re-packed" if you know a good place to do it.
I've had several nokia ones done in brisbane at a place called power re-packers (I think) and they were 30%-50% better than a genuine one.
It is to do with the quality of the actual cells replaced inside them..
might not be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for!!
