You could just get a speaker to line level converter.

Anyway they do have some form of "Input" as they have to be able to use and control the addon cd player...
The Gt-Four had an external amplifier as an option... I don't know if it used line level input or if it had a high level input though

Yes.
Just get an amp that has high level inputs and run your speaker wires into there OR get a line level converter. Chaper to just get the amp with the inputs but not all have these, esp high end. Speak to the witzl jaycar have a good amp with line inputs.

or if your goin to trouble of getting a sub, go all out and get a decent head unit , oh yeah how is it difficult to remover the head unit i do it on a daily bases, take off the gear stick cover, undo the 2 screws that are holding the front panal in~ these are the two screws facing down towards the ground~ then just unclip the front panel from the top ~note if you have a ultravox head unit like mine you'll have to take the front face off that too~ and then you can remove the front panel and there should be 4 screws holding the frame in, remove them and you can pull the frame out and see what you have back there.
