Hi all,
Im a new member to this site and was wondering if you guys could help us out with a few things.
A mate of mine has a 91 Cressida and is keen on doing a engine transplant. At the moment he is looking at going for a 1JZ-GTE. What would you guys recomend?
What we would like to know is what car did this come out of in Japan? Approximate age of engines? Is it worth buying a half cut for this conversion? Is the engine a direct bolt in? Do gearbox's have to be sourced and do mounts have to be modified? Anyone on this site done the conversion? Any workshops you can reckomend to do the conversion? As much info as you can give us basicly.
Thanks in advance
Marce

Hey dude.
To do the conversion the easiest way, you'll need a JZX81 Chaser 1/2 cut, these are essentially cressida's in japan. The swap is an exact bolt in i'm told, and I'm about to find out, doing my own in a few weeks. If you get just the engine and trans, you will need some custom made parts, the oil sump casing wont fit properly if it's from a supra or soarer, and you'll no doubt run into other issues along the way. The latest issue of Zoom and the second latest both have articles on this sort of conversion. I cant wait to finish mine!.
PS There's HEAPS more info all over this web board if you look in the tech/conversions section, over the last few months there have been a few being done....
cheers...fRebs
