I know you said a 2TGEU, but is it fuel injected or running carbys?

Did you consider that it may be getting to much fuel...when its idling does it sound a bit rough or is it very smooth. Are they the correct injecters or has someone put bigger ones. Vl pump should supply plenty of fuel to power a 2tgeu engine.

The intank pump in a VL is a low-pressure carby-style pump... VL's also had an external high-pressure EFI pump, and you need one of those!

VL EFI pump is indeed external. In case there is some confusion, try a fuel pressure gauge, borrow one from a mechanic friend (if you have one). 35psi at idle with vac line hooked up.
