paradise racing coilovers for 86 Tue, 11 May 2004 00:44 Go to next message
has anyone heard about these kits? from what i hear they are pretty good, and for the price, nothing really beats them. any bad news???

also what does everyone think of the T3 camber plates? i think they are damn fine.

also 450Lb/In spring rate is about 8Kg/mm right?

The only thing I don't like about these is the grub screw used to lock the spring base in place. After a few adjustments you'd have a pretty knarly thread.
Most coilovers use a second threaded ring to lock the main one in place, if you could get one of these made up to fit they'd be much better.

You could probably go to your local tuning store and get a pair of bottom locking nuts for the coilovers.
The other thing im interested in there is why they are using a springclip to hold the upper hats on in that picture.

Fulcrum suspension also make similar stuff. With a pair of their collars/nuts costing $80. I have these as pictured here:
http://www.dysfunction.ws/albums/Sprinter/DSCF0004_002.sized.jpg
I also got the upper hats from T3 in the US, cost me just under $80 shipped over with a square bearing top too Very Happy. Hopefully that will relieve the pressure on the spherical bearing in the camber top i plan to use.

Ill have to get some 63/65mm king springs to fit in there too.

All up i estimate a cost of about $300 per pair.
So what do the Paradise Racing coils end up being?

EDIT: With the camber plates, i think the T3 ones are as good as any of the bigger name brands. That said i can currently get some Cusco or HKS ones from Japan for a bit cheaper than the T3 ones, so im going that route.

Suspension needs to be done soon so need info...

Just a few questions...... so I take it that this is to make a coilover system from the existing MacF strut? Would places like Fulcrum make a coilover conversion if you took it there or are they only interested in selling the actual parts you showed on your pic above? Springs would not be a major problem I suspect... ring up Kings or some place like that and give them the specifics you need, right? How about the shock?

Hmmmmmmmmm....

Fulcrum will quite happily make you up a MacP replacement with their own parts. Being in Melbourne and having both the technical expertise and knowhow to do it i thought i would do it myself. The reason i got the T3 over the Fulcrum ones was the square bearing, and i forgot to order them from Fulcrum. Was going to be like $10 more exxy anyway, so i thought i would give T3 a try, and i must say im VERY impressed with their turnaround, friendlyness and build quality.

As for springs, Kings can supply them easily. And shocks are variable, you can use most types. Im using Konis personally.

I dont know if you can see it, but in this pic:
http://www.technotoytuning.com/media/t3/products/u pper_hat1.jpg
The bearing is a parallelogram in section but spherical in depth. As i understand it this can go a long way to eliminating the pressure on only one point on the bearing, as it spins only in as single axis. Theoretically only having a single point will cause a flatspot on that point and stuff the bearing faster.
Hence having the "square" (for want of a better term) bearing is a stress relief point.

I wasnt aware that the cuscos had a square bearing stress relief, i was under the impression that they only had a single spherical bearing. Care to take pics, or should i just wait until i order mine?

Actually thinking about it are you sure that the Cusco ones you have are square bearing? I seem to remember that the ones we installed on a guys Supra were spherical bearing rather than square bearing, as they were flexible in all directions, not just in the horizontal plane.
