I always have and always will use 10w40 Castrol Magnatech, the one were the oil is slightly magnatised the keep a thin layer of oil in the motor.
I use in the misses magna as well, never had problems.
I use 5w30 before and i didnt like it, made the motor sound loud. Rev'd alot easier thou.
I still think keeping the car out of the night air in winter will do better then any oil will at protecting the motor.

Damn magnatec sucks imho.
Ive seen it leave layers of crap all over an engine.
Im using Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 atm, but also have used Castrol TypeR 5W30 but found it a bit thin.

5W30 was a bit thin for the GZE, but then again it runs hotter, and doesnt have an oil cooler yet.
5W40 does it great, just need a catch so i dont vaporise so much out the exhaust via the PCV.

Penrite HPR15 is a popular choice around here, 5w40 or 5w50 is pretty thin for a 15yr+ engine.

Yep, for a simplified setup, keep a decent viscosity in the oil, of all suggested, I'd be using the Penrite HPR15.

I've had problems with mechanical components using Pennzoil - the rebuild costs were enough to steer me away from them. I realise all oils are basically brewed to a standard, but I propose there is a reason why Pennzoil products are cheaper than the other notable brands?

hate to burst your bubble, but oil is not magnetic.
they call it 'magnatec' to give consumers the impression that it sticks there like a magnet
the claim is that when you shut the engine off, not all the oil goes back into the sump? so what does it do when it's going around the motor? stick as well?
as for Pennzoil, my cam guy suggested that the US made Pennzoil is much better than the locally made stuff, and theat he would not use it unless it was actually US made... whatever
thanks for the tip on the HPR tho, i've been looking for a 10W-60 or 15W-60 to replace the 5W-50 i use atm..
