1ggte injector upgrade

Injectors seem to be a popular topic at the moment, but anyhow....
I've heard that you can make a direct swap from gen3 1ggte injectors to 7mgte(440cc??) injectors. Can anyone confirm that they've done this??
Is this a worthwhile operation on a 1ggte running 14.5psi?? What benefits would there be if any?
Thanks guys..

I have heard of it, but can't say I know for sure.
There is no reason to upgrade unless you are going to go aftermarket computer or some sort of fuel management control. It will just make you run rich due to bigger injectors.

HI
You are correct 7mgteu plug directly into a Gen 3. But why would you do it. If you are running a standard computer it will run toooo rich at anything over 11 psi. You surrent injectors are 245cc against the 7m 430cc. Not sure pumping more fule in when the motor is at 10.5 already or so will help. If you plan to go after market and fit a better turbo I would highly recommend the 7mgteu injectors.

Darkstar:
You will find that the 7mgte injectors plug into any generation 1g fuel rail and head, however they will not fit into anything other than a gen 1 loom plug. There are 3 locator pins on the outside of the plug and all 3 match up with gen1 looms but the GEN3 WILL NOT (not sure about gen2). I happen to know this as i happen to have gen 1 injectors in my 1g and also have a gen 3 motor on the shelf and have made the comparisons with my 7mgte injectors. Also from what i am running currently, i have a single turbo setup running about 15psi with std injectors atm on a aftermarket comp running rich atm, the injectors have not yet reached max duty cycle yet and i would expect to be able to see more out of them after the car is on the dyno. The only mod i have done is increased fuel pressure with a rising rate malpassi reg so you effectivly increase the flow rating of the injector. If you intend to only run 14-15psi an injector upgrade prob aint worth it, espically if you are using a stock computer and if you would want to keep injector duty cycle on the safe side of things i would reccomend the fitment of a malpassi. Good Luck

Fattony
There must be different plugs on gen 3s. My 7mgteu injectors plug into the gen 3 loom that I have (off a gen 3 engine, they are different to the gen 2 loom.

Lol you got to love how toyota change things every model car that they build. Well one thing is for certian that they will fit gen 1 injector plugs, and as we have recently come to see some gen 3s. So it would be safe to assume that you obviously check to see if they fit the plugs you would have before you go out and buy them.
