Installing 3T-GTE in a TA22

Hey All,
I know that there is heaps of help about putting in a 3T-GTE in a TA22, but i was just wondering if anyone has had a mechanic put it in and how much and how long it took? I just went to the mechanic and he said that it might cost me around $2000 to drop it in and connect it all up and everything.
If anyone knows of anyone in Brisbane that installs engines and stuff that will cost less then $2000 could you please let me know. The engine comes with the gearbox, computer, mounts, wiring and everything basically.
Also, would my current 2 1/4" exhaust in any way be able to connect up to a 3" dump pipe? Or would you suggest on getting my exhaust system upgraded to a 2 1/2" or 3" system?
And again, will the standard TA22 diff hold the 3T-GTE engine, it dosn't have the standard turbo it has a Garatt T28 turbo on it.
I was all excited about getting the new engine put in and now i find out that it'll cost too bloody much!!
Thanx everyone

your post is a bit vague..... does the $2000 include the motor, or is that with you supplying the motor?
as i read it, if it's with them supplying everything, that's incredibly cheap.
really you need to let people know just what parts you are supplying and what the workshop is doing to know what it's worth.

What mounts have you got? Are they to suit the TA22?
Why not do it your self? And you do know that this conversion will require engineering?

I've had a 3TGTE installed in my 22 just recently and a rough estimate would put the cost at 5.5K. This has included the complete engine with a W55 gearbox, a complete 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust, a front mounted 1GGTE intercooler, a K&N filter and associated AFM adapter plate, basic fuel system upgrades, thermo fan and alternator recondition and finally engineering. This also included all labour.

I'm supplying everything basically, all they are doing is the Labour part. I am getting the engine, gearbox, computer, wiring, mounts (to suit TA22), fuel pump/filter, surge tank, everything.
So as i said all they are doing is the labour part.
If anyone knows of a place in Brisbane to will do it for max of around $1000 please let me know
Thankx all

Do it yourself. I would offer to do the job for you but your going to be needing more than $1000 seeing you are going to need an exhaust aswell.
$1500 might bring you close.
Add me to your ICQ or MSN or Yahoo or something like that and i'll chat to you tonight. Where about in Brisbane are you?

You're dreaming. A drive-in-drive-out engine conversion is never going to cost $1k, even if you're supplying all parts.
