dear mates,
pls tell me the possibility of doing the conversion like this!!!
if the gearbox of FWD corolla and AW11 MR2 are interchangable, then what about the 6spd levin box in AW11??
if this can be done, I want one!!!!

yes it is, T might be able to tell you more.......all i can tell you is the close ratios makes it an AWESOME drive!

yes we did this conversion.
the gear linkage mod is the hardest bit - a fair bit of work to do it properly. you also have to modify the gearshifter, and you need to modify the top gearbox mount a bit.
the ratios made it awesome to drive - but we had also fitted the whiteline suspension kit, rebuilt and hotted up the motor a bit as well.
if you can get a gearbox at the right price, and have access to the equipment to do the conversion, it's a very good mod.

and what might you expect to pay for one??
i have to replace my 5 spd in the near future as i have nearly shagged it, and that sounds like a very good idea!!!!

factory option on the ae111 levin/tureno etc (get the 4age one! -beware - there are other toyotas that run this box too).
lsd is another option - they do not all come with lsds!!!
box will set you back between $1-2k.
if you are getting someone else to do the gearbox mods, i'd say you might be up for another $500-1000.

well........i would be able to do the mods myself.
but as my lotto numbers didnt come in on saturday, it's outa my price range, i'll just keep saving for a aw-11 ze 5 spd.

Also in the AE101 sportwagons, which don't seem to be drive as hard as the levins. (luxo family vs sports) Try to get the cables and shifter, which means less stuffing around... You'll only have to fabricate the mount... If not it still can be done the way toby did it.

Tell me about it... Nice and close  drop to a PB around wakefield by changing from a close ratio 5spd (holinger ZE) to a 6spd.
