driving home last night about 1am on the streets of perth down stirling hwy towards freo, i spotted what i thought was a riced up e30 318i with chrome mags. was in a rush so i was driving pretty fast. looked in my rear vision mirror and he started tailgating me. we eventually get next to each other and from a 60kmh start we go. 1st run i was suprised, even tho he went first i was only just keeping up with him. looked over he had a grin. i wasnt about to lose face. we are cruzing along again this time about 40kmh. i set my auto to power mode and turn overdrive off. we go at the same time, he has a better start but i begin to gain on him then he slowly fades into the distance. a very satisfying win. thumbs up are exchanged and we are both on our way. very impressed with his beemer nonetheless.

E30's 1980 ? do you mean e21 1979 > 1983 , twin exhaust would make it a 323i six cylinder 143hp , if it had twin exhausts it would have been this model , if not a 318i model , if twin headlight a 320i model . Most people do not go near "working these cars " the most common swap is a 2.7eta bottom end on the 2.3 head . the problem is with the mechanical fuel injection this is very hard to tune to get anymore power . If he was really smart he would have done the 3.0-3.3-3.5 633-635-733-735 engine swap and power would have been around 218-220hp with 300ish nm .
