From my understanding LSD is a 'must' for drifting.
I got a 83 sprinter and really want to get LSD. so does n e 1 know the best way to go about this? Some say by a new LSD (trd) some say get a Hilux diff. And whats a good lsd for drift, i hear everyone talkin bout a 2 way lsd?. Please rely if u got the knowledge or even if u don't but got an opion. Thanks

As with all things automotive - buy the best that you can. With the HiLux unit at least the diff will be a good strong start point.

We get at least one post a week asking this exact question, and it gets really annoying for the forum regulars. Please make use of the search facility, you will find an answer to your question and more besides.

why not just go for a cig locka? Hell of a lot cheaper than an lsd and it'll always lock
And since the cars going to be used for drifting the extra bill in tyres is pretty much negligable

I'm not sure, but from what I've been told, lockers are not as good for drift as LSD centres.

lockers can make cars understeer really bad! pushing the front wheels, a locker in impo is like cut springs, pretty darn dodgy, ask some people on this forum about the t-18 thingo t series rear end

So yeah, looks like the bottom line is - Get a good LSD.
I had a locker in my RX3 and it was an absolute C*NT of a thing. Try going around a corner with decent tyres on the back.... You can forget about steering. And god help you if you break down and have to push the thing with the front wheels turned!
Bloody good for traction in a straight line tho..... Until you either blow it up or snap your axles trying to turn into your driveway!
Not sure about the 1-way and 2-way bit tho...... You might wanna search for that info.
